The Lady of Court St.
There is a story of an apparition occasionally seen on dark moonless nights in the Olde Town section of Portsmouth,Va.This apparition is thought to be that of a young woman who was unable to cope with the untimely death of her husband.One night she decided to take her own life.She walked out of her home on Court St. and straight down the road to the Elizabeth River where she jumped in and dronwed.To this day people still report seeing a distraught lady who "seems to be from another time"walking down Court St. and disappearing into the river.Some have even attempted to rescue the person and found no one was there.
